GAD Somerset & Dorset - Phase 2 Progress

GAD S&D Phase 2 progress continues! Heading south from Sturminster Newton, the line followed a winding course broadly parallel with the river Stour, which it crossed a number of times. The asset development team has poured a lot of love and care into these bridges, such as the quirky Fiddleford Bridge (#175) shown below.

Additionally, a large ammount of the scenic work has been completed down to Shillingstone station, which has also been populated with models of the large grain store located in the goods yard, alongside the signalbox and porter's shed.

While there is still a fair amount of work left to complete before getting the Phase 2 extension ready for testing, we're happy to be keeping up the momentum, and are excited to share more updates as they come along!

Inglenook Sidings: A shunting puzzle

Hello all! I'm very happy to announce the release of my first trainsim route: Inglenook Sidings

This route is based on the classic "Inglenook" shunting puzzle developed by railway modeller Alan Wright. It has been recreated numerous times due to its small size and versatility. From now, you can also enjoy this classic shunting puzzle within Train Simulator Classic.

Although this route could pass for any part of the UK, Inglenook sidings has been modelled to resemble a small GWR goods station in the 1920s. The yard is next to a large brickworks, but other local and agricultural traffic is also carried.

I offer my deepest thanks to Precision Locomotive Developments, who have agreed to sponsor a competition following the release of this route. Next Saturday at 6PM GMT (the 21st), we will be hosting a competition on our discord server to see who can solve the included standard scenario the quickest.

1st place is entitled to a free PLD DLC of their choice,
we look forward to seeing you there...
-Leonard

Great Western Levels (1882)

We are happy to announce the release of the next instalment of our Great Western Levels project: Great Western Levels (1882). This route had been on-hold due to lack of broad gauge stock, but now it is unlikely that stock will be finished (or provided to us), we have taken the decision to release the route anyway.

Due to circumstances out of our control, there are several unresolvable issues which you may encounter. These should not impact enjoyment, but please bear them in mind before sending us a support request! These can be found on the route page.

With the same requirements as our hugely popular Great Western Levels (1902) route, this route is a must-download for anyone interested in the weird and wonderful early era of our railways. If another developer produces more Broad Gauge GWR stock, we will make scenarios for the route and possibly backdate it to an 1872 or 1862 condition with signalling (and no standard gauge). Even if not, there are several good runs to be had with standard gauge GWR, LSWR, MR, LBSCR, and other companies of your choosing!

The route and unfinished locomotives/stock can be downloaded from the route page here.

Thank you so much for your patience with this project.

Triple Release of Scenario Packs

I'm pleased to share that we've released three new highly-detailed scenario packs:
  1. Wycombe Branch Duties c.1955 (6 scenarios)

  2. Dorchester T9 Diagrams 1952 (6 scenarios)

  3. Seaton Saturday Diagram 1961 (10 scenarios)

These packs are based around real duties and are made with the most realistic player/AI trains. If you are missing some requirements, scenarios should still work if you do F2 then Cancel upon loading, provided you aren't missing the player train or anything it couples to.

All three of these packs are by our resident scenario guru Leonard, upon whose behalf I am writing this post. More to come soon...
