Hello all! It's been two months since the last update and much has changed in that time. Admittedly progress has slowed down somewhat now the broad brush-strokes are in place, and more time is being spent on smaller details.
I have acquired a new PC since the last blogpost, and so I will include a selection of screenshots at the end, with "before and after" pictures of various locations on the route. Last time I showed off the immediate station area, and the hamlet of Bulverton. Since then the more distant half of the town has been finished, which stretches northwards in the valley of the river Sid.
Most of the area between Sidmouth and Tipton has been rebuilt with new lofts and foliage. I came across a useful photograph of Stowford village which showed just far off I had been first time around!
The Lyme road bridge is an area I am particularly pleased with now. I've deleted lots of the enbankment lofts and used conventional terrain manipulation instead. More fiddly, but I think a much nicer end result.
The ~0.7 mile section through Harpford wood has been completely remodelled since my first attempt. Many of the cuttings were simply too large and so everything has been re-laid from scratch, including a pair of streams which I had forgotten first time around.
Between Ottery and Tipton the marshy river valley has been rebuilt, with a lighter colour-scheme. I think this works better than the darker version previously attempted.
Finally, the immediate station surroundings of both Ottery and Tipton have been added. The beer garden of "The Golden Lion" is of particular note: It must have been a great site for trainspotters!
Enbankment grass has been finished as well as all the field boundaries, but telegraphs poles are due a second wave of effort. We are fast approaching the end of scenery construction: Signalling, custom assets, and of course scenarios are to follow.
Bye for now,
-Leonard
